Devon dog owner claims cannabis oil brought pet back from brink of death
A pet owner from Devon has claimed cannabis oil saved her dog’s life after he was given just days to live.
Vicky Horton, from Torquay, had almost given up hope of saving her Labrador springer cross Milo after he was diagnosed with pancreatitis.

It may sound a bit strange initially, but when you think about it, it actually makes a lot of sense.
CBD for pets?
Vets told her to prepare for the worst after the pooch failed to respond to conventional treatments.
However, after a friend suggesting giving him some drops of CBD oil, Vicky says Milo’s health improved drastically.
Seven months on, Milo is still using the CBD oil and has recently celebrated his 15th birthday.
Now, the family are all going on holiday together in their campervan to help Milo enjoy his twilight years.
It was then that Vicky’s husband recalled some friends who had treated their dogs using CBD oil.
The couple gave Milo eight drops of oil and claim his condition improved within a matter of hours.
They say within three hours he had his first proper wee – his first in three days. By 11pm, he was asleep and resting for the first time in four days.
By 6am the following morning, he was eating a plate of chicken – which was the first food he had eaten for six days.
If you look at Milo today running around the block, scoffing plates of chicken and wagging his tail it’s really surreal to think that we almost made a decision to end his life. It’s completely unbelievable how a few drops of cbd oil can make such a difference to an animal’s life.
Until September last year, CBD shops were able to supply pet owners with products to make their pets lives easier.
However, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate then issued a statement saying that veterinary products containing (CBD) are veterinary medicines and should be regulated – which has reportedly halted the trade.
Analysts predict the CBD market for pets will reach a cool $563 million in sales this year.

The two friends making a living out of selling cannabis and it’s all perfectly legal
That’s because what they are selling is Cannabidioloil (CBD) which is now widely accepted as offering health benefits which can be life-changing.
It is entirely legal to buy and take CBD supplements in the UK
Confessing to making a living out of selling cannabis would normally result in a prison sentence, but two friends have boldly opened a shop to try and make it become even more of a lucrative business.
Purposely set back from the high street, the ‘lab’ can be found tucked away down a one-way street in Torquay.
A steady stream of customers can be seen coming through its door six days a week because nothing like it has opened in the South West before.
The police are aware of its existence, but it is allowed to continue trading because what Toby Murphy and Kierran Fairey are doing is perfectly legal.
That’s because what they are selling is Cannabidiol
oil (CBD) which is now widely accepted as offering health benefits which can be life-changing.
Those benefits have been witnessed first-hand by the friends who believe they have opened the first shop in the south west dedicated solely to selling CBD oil.
The inspiration for Toby, who also owns five vapes shops in Devon, was his younger brother who has a rare terminal illness but has seen his quality of life improve since taking CBD because he now does not have as many seizures.
For Kierran it was being free of joint pain from sporting injuries and combating his anxiety since taking the oil.
Together they saw the dream of opening CBD Lab become reality when the shop opened for the first time in Torquay last month. Already they have been surprised by how many customers have come through the door and how diverse they have been.
“I use it on a daily basis because it’s good for optimal health known as homestasis. It’s like a perfect balance within the body and makes me feel more focused at work. I ride motocross so I suffer from joint pains from crashes over the years. It relives that pain. I had also struggled with sleeping before as I had a bit of anxiety. It has helped me overcome all those things.
“Since the BBC reported earlier this year the story of 12-year-old Billy Caldwell who has severe epilepsy and was eventually given back medicinal cannabis oil that was confiscated from his mother at customs, the public seem to have started changing the view of CBD.”
Although many are now familiar with CBD, much of Toby and Kierran’s time is still spent dispelling misconceptions about the health supplement.
As CBD comes from cannabis, there is a common assumption that CBD oil makes you ‘high’. However, it doesn’t because it’s extracted from non-marijuana strains of the cannabis plant known as hemp.
What also confuses people is whether it is legal or not. As CBD does not contain the psychoactive ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is what makes people ‘high’, it is entirely legal to buy and take CBD supplements in the UK.
Kierran said: “As it’s related to cannabis, people think you will get high or stoned if you take it when in fact that’s completely wrong. We have laboratory reports to prove it. The other most common misconception is it’s illegal. It’s completely legal. People also ask if you can overdose but you can’t.
“Cannabis has always had bad press, but hemp is very different. Not only is it used in CBD oil, the fibers and stalks are used in hemp clothing, construction materials, paper, biofuel and plastic bottles whichbiodegradable.
“What people don’t know is it used to be used in 80 per cent of pharmaceutical drugs until it was banned 100 years ago. What’s also good about it is it’s a natural product, whereas when taking pharmaceutical drugs you often have to take another tablet to combat the side effects.”
It is advised people should make sure they know where they are buying CBD oil from because only selected companies meet the high quality trading standards that are required to sell CBD in the UK.
Although extensive scientific research has proven CBD offers several potential health benefits, such as reducing anxiety, boost sleep and relieve joint pain, Kierran and Toby are not allowed to state it will ‘cure’ anyone of their ailments.
Keirran explained: “We encourage people to do their own research and are there to help people choose the right products to suit them. The way you take it is often personal preference but we can also recommend the best way for what they need CBD for.
“We have a lot of youngsters come in with anxiety, but we don’t sell it to people aged under 18. It is fine for them to take it but it’s one of our rules.
When we started looking into CBD oil we found out it was not regulated. It means anybody can sell it. You can buy it on the internet and you are not guaranteed what the label says is in the bottle, but here you know for sure what you’re getting.
“The regulations set out by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) make it very tricky to help and advise people. As long as we abide by their guidelines we can advise people the right way
Dad with Terminal Cancer Credits His Prolonged Life to CBD Oil and Dog Worming Tablets
A dad-of-three dying from colon cancer and given only a year to live credits his prolonged life to CBD oil and dog worming tablets.
Last September, at age 39, Scott Davis from Torquay, Devon was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and was told he only had a year to live. Davis was shocked and horrified by this piece of news.
“I was completely gobsmacked when they told me I had roughly a year to live. I was completely fit and healthy and you wouldn’t have thought anything was wrong with me,” says Davis. “A few months prior, I had been getting stomach pains which the doctor thought was IBS, but not long after, I was curled up in excruciating pain and ended up in the hospital, which is when they found the tumor.”
As a solution, doctors only offered Scott Davis palliative care—methods to just relieve the symptoms but not to treat the condition itself. This did not sit well with him, and he began looking for alternatives.
“Straight after my diagnosis, a nurse at the hospital told me not to give up and slipped me a leaflet about the benefits of CBD oil and things,” Davis recalls. “That’s when I read about worming tablets known as fenbendazole and CBD oil. I started taking them both in May after reading online that it can help with terminal cancer.”
After doing more of his own research, Davis studied if CBD oil and fenbendazole cause anti-cancerous effects. Whether small doses of CBD or larger doses found in tinctures are more effective, we recommend speaking with your healthcare practitioner to find the best solution for you. While CBD oil works to alleviate symptoms such as pain naturally without side effects, the fenbendazole acts to alter the viability of cells in areas around the solid tumor that lack oxygen.
The lack of oxygen in the tumour makes it more resistant to chemotherapy. So the fenbendazole would potentially reverse these negative effects, though more research is still needed to know for certain. Whether CBD oil is the best way to obtain the benefits is unknown, and further case studies are needed to determine the most effective application for the cannabinoid.
After doing his own research, Davis began taking the dog worming tablets with CBD oil—as well as dozens of other vitamins—and he now claims to be fitter and healthier mentally than he’s ever been.
“I get the fenbendazole online for £7.50 per week and I get through one pack each day. It’s a powder so I normally just sprinkle it on my toast.”
Twelve months and 13 days after being given a year to live, Scott Davis is able to celebrate his 40th birthday with his three children, Lowenna, 1, Bobby, 5, and Harley-Jack, 8.
Surpassing his doctors’ expectations, Davis continues to run his building and maintenance firm. With the help of his healthy lifestyle, he believes he can live up to 75 years old.
He now jokes that he has exceeded his “sell-by date.”
“In terms of advice I’ve received from the hospital, they’ve basically just told me to keep doing what I’m doing as it’s evident I’m getting results from it,” Davis says. “My goal now is to raise as much awareness and help as many people as possible while I’m still here.
